Michael Bishop is Chief Executive of RDA, a UK-wide charity supporting over 39,000 disabled people each year through the unique bond between people and horses. RDA works to remove barriers, creating inclusive spaces and a supportive community where disabled people can access equine activities and opportunities that build confidence, develop skills, and foster a genuine sense of belonging.

Michael’s connection to RDA’s work is deeply personal. From a non-equestrian family, he experienced firsthand how time spent with horses, through volunteering at his local stables in London, helped him develop confidence and skills beyond the classroom. He remains a lifelong horse enthusiast and keen amateur event rider and is passionate about ensuring more people can enjoy the physical, social, and wellbeing benefits of the human–horse bond.

Michael has extensive leadership experience across the public, private, and voluntary sectors, including as Director of Corporate Strategy and Business Improvement at Historic England. His expertise spans strategy and organisational development, programme and major project delivery, and income generation. He also serves as a trustee of the British Racing School and London Youth, reflecting his wider commitment to inclusion, access, and opportunity.
