Paul Smyth – the founder and leader of the Digital Accessibility team at Barclays

Paul Smyth is the founder and leader of the Digital Accessibility team at Barclays, responsible for ensuring that the bank’s digital services work for everyone, including disabled customers or colleagues. His Barclays Accessibility team have been long-standing supporters of the AXSchat community and he’s returning for a third time to have a chat with the AXSchat gang.  Paul’s active beyond the bank too – he’s a co-chair of the Business Disability Forum’s Technology Taskforce and he’s also been appointed  by the UK Government in 2019 as the disability sector champion for Web Accessibility. All in all, Paul wears multiple hats, has multiple disabilities and is an influential and energetic agitator for  change.

He’s dropping by to talk about new UK accessibility regulations and  new advice on how disabled users can better complain to organisations. We’ll hear about what’s new with accessible banking as well as embedding accessibility at scale in a large organisation.  He’ll be introducing new ideas on disability identity and new ways of thinking about inclusive design concepts.
