Nurdeniz Tuncer

After graduating from the Law Faculty at Istanbul University in 2001, I started a law office which focused on business and contract law. Given this experience, I have devoted an increasing amount of my time and energy to disability rights in Turkey. Working to adequately train and provide guide dogs through the Guide Dog Association is a major part of these efforts. In my role as President of this Association, I also work to advance the legal status and standard of living for the visually impaired in this country, providing them with employment and improved education opportunities. My own visual impairment began at 10 years old, which makes this mission of empowering all members of the community personal to me. I am also a member of the British Chamber of Commerce in Turkey and have graduated from Common Purpose Leadership Programme. In 2017, the Sabanci Foundation selected me as a Change Maker. We also won accessibility award from International Council of Shopping Centers with our cooperation with Zorlu Center. I was a panelist at Global Thinkers Forum The International Women’s Day forum. As The Guide Dogs Association, we are working for raising awareness about guide dogs and disability, I am running for disability rights. Our three dogs will begin to work as therapy dogs since they could not be guide dogs, they will help people with another role.
