Mike Gifford is the President and founder of OpenConcept Consulting Inc. For almost 20 years he has worked to shape open source software and the communities around them. Before adopting to Drupal, Mike was the lead developer of another open source Content Management System.
In 2008, Mike began building a community of global experts in accessibility to help shape Drupal 7. He spearheaded the advancements made by the community. If we could get accessibility problems fixed at the source, millions of sites would benefit. With an accessibility by default approach everyone who interacted with Drupal could benefit. Working with Drupal gave us a unique use case in that we needed to project the future needs of a flexible product. The accessibility team worked closely with others, particularly on usability issues. In 2012, Mike was officially made a Drupal 8 Core Accessibility Maintainer.
For about a decade Mike has been contributing patches to Drupal Core (versions 6, 7 and 8). He has also provided leadership on security, privacy & a range of other issues.
Mike is a contributing author to the book “The Definitive Guide to Drupal 7”.
Mike started OpenConcept because he wanted to make a bigger impact. In 2013 OpenConcept became a Certified B Corporation. Joining this global community, we are able to meet a triple bottom line and take a leadership role as a responsible business.
