Juan Pablo designed and implemented the worldwide campaign “Lend Your Leg “, which impacted millions of people in more than 70 countries around the world in a gesture of solidarity with the victims of these artefacts.

Nowadays, Juan Pablo is the President of the National Council on Disability (CND), advisory body and institutional consultant of the National Disability Public Policy in Colombia. As well as the Advisor in Disability Issues of the Presidency of Colombia.

In the Americas, Juan Pablo is the President of the Committee for the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities (CEDDIS) within the Organization of American States (OAS).

Former President of the Colombian Paralympic Committee,. Ex-president of the Colombian Federation of Persons with Physical Limitations FEDESIR (2009 – 2013), named the head of mission of the Colombian Delegation at the Paralympic Games Beijing 2008 and London 2012.

In 2014, The Trust for the Americas Foundation, in its 15th Anniversary, awarded Juan Pablo for his social leadership in the region.

In 2007, Juan Pablo received an honourable mention from the Senate in recognition of his work on improving the quality of life of persons with disabilities in Colombia as well as for as his work in Arcangeles Foundation, a non-profit organization that works for people with disabilities which Juan Pablo founded in 2006.

In 2010, he received the Prince of Monaco the Peace & Sports award in the category of Event of the Year, in regard to the success of the Wheelchair Rugby exhibition match “Rumble in Cartagena”.
