Abeer Shakweer is the advisor to the Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Social Responsibility and Services. She holds a Ph.D., in Engineering, and a M.Sc. in Computer Science, both form the University of Nottingham in the UK.

Dr. Shakweer worked as an advisor to Scientific Research and Innovation Strategic Unit at Misr ElKheir Foundation, Planning and Monitoring Manager and head of international cooperation at the Science and Technology Development Fund (STDF), and as the executive director for the center for future studies at the Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC).

Dr. Shakweer was awarded the WSIS 2016 award on her work for PwDs’ inclusion at the work environment. And recently was awarded by the Arab Foundation for Social Responsibility for her work on the use of ICT to empower the marginalized groups.

Dr. Shakweer participated in many national and international projecs including:

The Italian Egyptian technical education scholarship program and for the first time in Egypt the program dedicated 10% of  the scholarships to PwDs;

ICT in Accessibility in Education for Egyptian schools and universities;
